Patients face similar difficulties in their quest for a diagnosis, relevant information and proper direction towards qualified professionals. Scientific and medical knowledge on rare diseases remains to be improved. Until a few years ago, there were no adequate political and scientific research programmes. There still is no efficient treatment, but suitable care can improve the quality of life and increase life expectancy. Progress has been achieved for children with Progeria, indicating that it is not time to give up, but rather to pursue and to intensify research efforts and social solidarity.

The Progeria Family Circle brings European progeriachildren and their families together. Our gatherings are important highlights, mutual contact proved very valuable for parents and children. The value of emotional support is difficult to overestimate.
